Wedding Photo Collection Best Practices: 2026 Guide

Ecem Yılmaz · April 12, 2026 · 7 min read

How you collect photos from your wedding day matters more than couples realise. 200 guests can shoot 3000 photos in a single night — and 78% of them disappear within the week. Here are seven popular methods compared honestly.

1. Dedicated QR-code platform (recommended)

Guests scan a QR code, upload via browser, no app required. Originals preserved, all photos collected in one downloadable album.

2. WhatsApp group

Easy start, big trap: WhatsApp auto-compresses (12MP → 1MP). 1024-person group cap plus admin chaos.

3. AirDrop (iOS only)

Fast for iPhone guests, excludes Android. Globally, Android share is ~70%.

4. Shared cloud folder

Works but every guest needs an account + login. Bad UX for the average attendee.

The verdict

Under 50 guests: WhatsApp or AirDrop may suffice. 50+ guests: a purpose-built QR platform wins on every dimension — original quality, unlimited guests, one-click ZIP download, GDPR-compliant storage.
