Short answer: the safety of your wedding photos depends on the storage and access policy of the platform you use. With the right tool, the album is reachable only via the link you share, photos are stored on encrypted servers, and you can delete everything whenever you want.
Who owns the photos?
The copyright of an uploaded photo belongs to the person who took it; control of how it is used should belong to the event owner — you. Good platforms never use your photos for ads or third-party sharing. Always read the terms of service.
GDPR / privacy checklist
- Is the album public, or reachable only by link?
- How long are photos kept — indefinitely, or auto-deleted?
- Where (which country) is the data hosted?
- Can you permanently delete the whole album on demand?
- Is unnecessary personal data (phone, email) required from guests?
A good rule: ask guests for photos only, not identity. Forcing a number or account both lowers participation and collects needless data.
How to inform your guests
A short note next to the QR card is enough: "The photos you upload are shared only with the couple." Transparency builds trust and increases participation.
The verdict
Your photos' safety is not something to leave to chance; check the platform's storage, access and deletion policies before you choose. See how Wedding Memento handles data in our privacy policy, and how the system works on our how it works page.
