How to Make a QR Code Wedding Invitation

Ecem Yılmaz · March 20, 2026 · 6 min read

A QR-code wedding invitation combines the warmth of a physical card with digital convenience. Printed onto the invitation, the code takes guests who scan it on the night straight to the photo upload page.

Step 1: create the QR

When you create your event in Wedding Memento, a unique QR code is generated automatically. From the detail page, "Download QR" gives you the PNG file (300x300 px, high error-correction level).

Step 2: place it on the invitation

Have your designer set it at at least 2.5 × 2.5 cm. Smaller QRs will not scan on glossy card. The background should be white or very light — use an inverted version on dark themes.

Step 3: the CTA line

One line under the QR: "Scan to share your photos." A guest who does not understand the QR's purpose will never scan it.

Step 4: test it

Before sending to print, scan the QR with your phone and confirm it reaches the upload page. Otherwise you will discover 200 invitations are broken only after they are sent.

3 common mistakes

1. Over-decorative frames: a decorative border around the QR can block scanning.
2. Glossy / laminated print: matte coated paper is safest.
3. Coloured QR: keep it black and white where possible. Coloured QRs fail in low light.

The verdict

A QR invitation takes a minute to set up and turns every printed card into a photo-upload gateway. For print specifics, see our QR printing guide, or create your event to generate your code.
